Perhaps this is a dumb question, but I just purchased a set of used unevens and they are so slippery! How do I get a good chalk buildup started?

All I can say is try spraying sugar water on them and then chalking them up well. you may have to do it a few times..... Also are you using grips with them when you say they are slipperly?

They are so slippery that grips are unsafe. We also have new grips and they slide right off. I will try the sugar water. I just wondered if there were any quick tricks or if I need to wait for the chalk to build with use.
Thanks!

Then again some bars are always a little slipperly. I remember when I was in gym most of the bars were well chalked and nice, but there were a couple that never really did get not slipperly...

Have your gymnasts use water and chalk and do a lot of tap swings. Also it helps if you can take the block and rub on the bars before they start swing on them. And as a male gymnast trick, use a little honey.
