I've always wanted to be a gymnast, but at 17, I'm really worried that I'm way too old to get started. If I can still start, I certainly have the will to train impossibly hard.

Does anyone have any idea of what I should do?

No don't be silly of course you are not too old too start!

I am 24 and restarted Gymnastics a year ago when I was 23 so go for it.

You are not too old to start anything well apart from kindergarten !

You are very too old for something! (well maybe if you physically can't do it due to conditions related to age). If you are physically able then go for it! Gymnastics is sooo fun it is worth it, and it is so good for you body too (muscles, flexability).

I'm 17 as well and am getting into gymnastics again, I did it for about 2 years but quit because of a verbally abusive coach. I start on monday. I can't wait! :)

I am 17 and I'm just starting to get serious with my training now, I don't think you're too old to get into it! I'm just now working on semi-complicated stuff(kips, back handspring, etc.), and while it's a bit harder now that I'm older(apparently when you're younger it's easier because you don't have as much fear, so trying harder skills isn't quite as daunting  ), I find it a really good challenge.:D So absolutely go for it, as they say "You never know how far you can go until you try."

Good for you kipgirl.:) I remember when I first got my kip, it was such a good feeling because it was a hard skill for me to get.:D

Of course to be a good gymnast you need lost of years of experience. I have been in gymnastics for 16 years and it takes more than just dedication. You need to be very mental strong and physically strong. Anybody can learn to do a front roll , but if you want to be a great gymnast you need to start by the time you are at least 8 , by the age of 8 I was doing backhand springs on the beam. So if you are 17 and want to do gymnastics odds are you wont ever be very good and it wont be worth the money. This is just the facts and I am not trying to discourage anyone form trying gymnastics.
